RRTs have been constituted to fight the outbreak of water-borne diseases.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh will have Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) to fight any outbreak of infectious diseases and epidemics following floods in the state, an official said on Thursday.

"RRTs have been constituted exclusively to fight the outbreak of water-borne or vector-borne diseases in a particular district," UP Director General Medical and Health, I S Srivastava said.

"The move would help the flood-hit areas where threat of an epidemic looms large," he added.

About 25,000 cases of malaria and 10,000 of diarrhoea have been reported from various areas of the state since June 1. Other common diseases including dysentery, jaundice, dengue and cerebral malaria are also on the rise, officials added.

"RRTs that will comprise five-six doctors and other para-medical staff would submit a daily status report on health conditions prevailing in their respective district," said Srivastava.
