NEDUMBASSERY: Acting on a tip-off, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) personnel nabbed a Sri Lankan native at the Kochi International Airport here while trying to smuggle in gold biscuits on Thursday morning.According to sources, Shahul Hameed Althaf, 45, was leaving the airport after completing the clearance formalities of the Emigration and Customs when the DRI Personnel intercepted him. However, they could not find any unauthorised valuables in his luggage. The DRI officials then took him for a detailed X-ray examination which revealed that he had hidden 14 gold biscuits in his large intestine.The seized gold biscuits weighing about two kilograms cost about Rs 50 lakh. Later, Althaf was taken to Ernakulam for further interrogation.
