Srinagar: A day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah met the Prime Minister in New Delhi, there have been fresh incidences of firing on protesters in the Valley on Tuesday.
According to reports, two people have been injured in Sheikhpora and Budgam. However, sources say the bigger worry for the Home ministry is the intelligence report, which warns of the possibility of militants are mingling with the crowd and firing at security personnel.
Meanwhile, separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani has given a call for a march to the Idgah in Srinagar on Tuesday. He has asked the police to relax the curfew and appealed to the people not to pelt stones. But the government is not taking chances and has deployed additional paramilitary personnel in Srinagar. Curfew has also been imposed in all the towns in the Valley.
Omar Abdullah will meet officers of the unified command at 8 pm on Tuesday, and if the situation improves, Geelani may be allowed to hold his rally.
