Perth: An Indian student was being questioned in Perth on Friday over the death of two Indian brothers after a dispute over money, media reports said.
Detective Inspector David Bryson, from the Major Crime Squad, said one of the victims staggered to the nearby St John Ambulance depot seeking medical help at 4 am and told the medical staff about another injured man, Perth Now reported.
"Police have responded. They have found a deceased male (his 19-year-old brother) on the roadway," he said.
"The person who initially went to St John's (Ambulance depot) was transferred to Royal Perth Hospital. He subsequently died this morning," Bryson said.
He added that a 22-year-old person had been arrested in relation with the killing and he was being questioned.
"We have located a person of interest. He is currently in custody... At this stage, we have numerous inquires to complete," he said.
"Essentially the information that we have got is there has been a dispute about finances. Essentially that's it - there's been a dispute about money and things have obviously escalated and it's obviously taken a life of its own from there," Australian news agency AAP reported quoting Bryson.
A police spokeswoman said that they believed all the three men involved in the altercation were Indians, the report said.
"He will be questioned about the whole incident, what happened during the course of the evening, obviously what he's involved in and where he has been since the time the person was found dead on the street," Bryson said.
The report said that several residents near the scene of crime reported hearing a man and woman arguing before agonising screams of a man.
