CHENNAI: Urging students to take up government jobs and execute their work in an honest manner, chairman of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) R Natraj said he was doing all he could to make the recruitment process as transparent as possible. Speaking at the College Day function at Presidency College on Monday, he said the current generation of students had both talent and opportunity but lacked patience. This was evident in the recent skirmishes between groups that occurred on the campus. “Students must develop the patience to hear out opposing views. If that quality is developed, such incidents can be avoided,” he said. Natraj said red tape was a huge stumbling block for the growth of the country. The idea behind the e-governance measures that he initiated after taking over as chairman was to bring in a transparent regime that disposed of issues quickly.“The Information Technology revolution has reached the point where everything is computerised. We must take advantage of this to further the transparency,” he said, referring to the long-drawn-out procedures even to get a hall ticket for examinations. He said the commission was aiming to complete recruitment for over 15,000 vacancies in the next 10 months. The application process for the posts has been made less taxing by the introduction of the one-time registration system, he said. Later, he distributed prizes to students who had won in various sports competitions held in the course of the last academic year.
