Vadakara Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Wednesday issued copies of the chargesheet to the 71 accused in the T P Chandrasekharan murder case.
Out of the total 76 accused in the case, five men failed to turn up before the Court due to various reasons.
CPM district secretariat member P Mohanan, the 14th accused in the case and under judicial custody, sought leave before the Court citing ill health.
While 24th accused Rahul is still absconding, Mohammed Saheer, the 52nd accused, has escaped to the Gulf after being released on bail. Counsels for the accused informed the court that CPM leader Karayi Rajan, who is in jail in Kochi in connection with Fasal murder case, and SFI leader Sarin Sasi were yet to receive the summons issued by the Magistrate.
Hundreds of people including relatives of the accused and party workers thronged the Vadakara Court premises right from Wednesday morning.
Heavy security arrangements were put in place by the police in and around Court premises. All the 71 accused including CPM state committee member and 69th accused K K Ragesh, Onchiyam Area Committee secretary and 9th C H Asokan and CPM Panur Area Committee member and 13th accused P K Kunjananthan and the seven-member killer squad reached the Court at around 11 am.
The Court will consider the case again on October 3 and Magistrate M Suhaib has asked the accused to inform the court if there was any complaint regarding the content of the chargesheet before October 3.
The case will be handed over to the District Sessions Court only after this procedure.
Meanwhile, the Vadakara Court will issue warrant against Mohammed Saheer and is likely to moot legal action against his guarantors. Saheer, 38, hailing from Panur, was arrested for harbouring offenders.
