BANGALORE: The woman and her two sons, who were found dead in a pond, at Srinivasapura Bande in Yelahanka police station limits on Friday, have been identified by the police.Kamakshi (28), her sons Chetan (5) and Gagan (3) are the deceased. They were natives of Ajjavara village in Chikballapur district.Kamakshi’s husband Shivakumar is a tempo driver. The police said that Kamakshi and her children had come to her elder sister Shantha’s house on Tuesday.“As Kamakshi’s father-inlaw had passed away six months ago, there was no celebration of Ganesha festival at home. So, she along with children had come to Shantha’s house for festival. On Wednesday evening, she had left the house with her children, under the pretext of buying them something, but did not return home.“Her family members got to know about the incident after it appeared in the media,” the police said.A quarrel between the couple, over buying new clothes, reportedly led Kamakshi to end her life with the children. The police said that Kamakshi’s husband Shivakumar had visited her on Wednesday.“When he came home, Kamakshi had asked him to buy new clothes for her and his children for the festival. But, Shivakumar told her he did not have money to buy clothes and had told her that he would buy them after a few days. This had led to a quarrel between the couple. However, he bought clothes for them the same day and had left for work.Upset over the quarrel, Kamakshi took the extreme step along with her sons the next day,” the police added.Shivakumar also admitted that he had quarrelled with his wife over the issue.“In a fit of rage I had slapped her, but never expected that it would prove so costly.I felt very bad for slapping her and had consoled her.Later, I also bought them new clothes and left for work, telling them that I would not be able to come for the festival. But it is shocking to see them dead, that too wearing the new clothes which I bought for them,” Shivakumar lamented. The bodies were handed over to the family members at Dr B R Ambedkar College and Hospital mortuary.Further investigations are going on in connection with the case.
