TIRUPATI: The stage is set for the 69th annual festival of music and dance organised by the Sri Thyagaraja Festival Committee in association with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) from July 25 to August 3. Several noted musicians and singers will perform in the 10-day event to be held at the Thyagaraja Mandapam here. Concerts will be held in the morning, evening and night.Releasing details of the festival to mediapersons here on Saturday, the Sri Thyagaraja Festival Committee's executive chairman K V Ranganathan said the festival will commence with a violin duet by T N Krishnan, Vijikrishnan and Natarajan.TTD executive officer L V Subramanyam will inaugurate the festival on July 25. Sapthagiri Sangeetha Vidvanmani S R Janakiraman will be felicitated during the inaugural.The highlight of the festival is expected to be a whistle (Carnatic) recital by T S Nivedita. H S Brahmanandam's Harikatha `Anjaneya Utsavam' will be the finale of the festival.In keeping with tradition, the `Sapthagiri Sangeetha Vidwanmani' title will be conferred on the seventh day of the festival. This time, it is being conferred upon three exponents of music: Prapancham Seetharam (flute), Komanduri Seshadri (Violin) and Madras A Kanan (Mridangam). They will also perform concert on the occasion.Apollo Hospitals managing director Preetha Reddy will be the chief guest and confer the titles of Sapthagiri Sangeetha Vidwanmani on the three musicians, Ranganathan said.
