ALAPPUZHA: The winner of the Raja Pramukhan Trophy of this year's Champakkulam Moolam boat race could not be declared with two teams claiming victory after a photo finish here on the Pampa river on Thursday. Both Karichal and Devas made a close finish in the final. Jawahar Thayankari was the third snake boat in the fray.
Though Devas was initially declared winner, later the prize distribution was postponed to Friday following the Karichal team claiming victory. Following this, tension prevailed in the area as the participants clashed with police. One policeman got injured. The winner will be declared on Friday at the Collector's chamber, the organisers said.

Alappuzha SP C H Nagarju told Express that cases have been registered against few who attacked the cops.

In the loser's final, Champakkulam outdid Karuvatta Puthanchundan and Valiya Diwanji. In the second loser's final, Karuvatta Sree Vinayakan emerged winner.
