Three more held for homestay attack

City Crime Bureau sleuths on Tuesday arrested three more youths in connection with Saturday’s attack on Morning Mist homestay here, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 15.

The three arrested were identified as Varun Poojary (20) of Vamanjoor, Punith (19) and Kiran Poojary, (20) of Malali, Matti in Kaikamba. They were charged under 13 sections of the IPC, including those dealing with dacoity and molestation, and the Karnataka Prevention of Destruction and Loss of Property Act, 1981.

The three were not involved in the Amnesia pub attack in 2009. But Kiran Poojary was involved in a communal riot, and a case was registered against him at Bajpe police station, police sources told Express. All those involved in the attack had been arrested, but the police were still scrutinising the clippings to ensure that no none escaped from the law, sources said.

Earlier, it was reported that all the vigilantes were members of Hindu Jagaran Vedike. But according to sources, only Subash Padeel and two others were the members of the Vedike. The others did not identify themselves with any Hindu outfit.
