VIJAYAWADA: Three family members of a bridegroom met with an accident and died on the eve of his betrothal on Saturday night. According to information, the marriage of Rehman of Chennai was fixed with a girl of Bhavanipuram. The betrothal was to be held on Sunday. Rehman came to Vijayawada first. His mother Sk Farshad Begum (45), and family members Ghouse, Md Nasar Sharief and Md Zulekhabhi arrived here by Pinakini Express around 10 pm on Saturday. When the train stopped at the outer signal, they got down from it near Rajiv Park. While they were crossing the second rail track, they noticed a fast approaching passenger train. They jumped from the bridge to protect themselves from being run over by the train.Farshad Begum (45) who received head injuries in the fall, died on the spot. The injured were admitted to a private hospital. Sharief (30) and Md Zulekhabi (60) succumbed to injuries later.
