VRIDDHACHALAM: An orator of the DMDK, ‘Idimuzhakkam’ Sekar (37), allegedly committed suicide here by consuming poison, after penning a letter to party chief Vijayakanth.In the letter, Sekar, a native of Seelaiampatti in Theni district, wrote, “If Oommen Chandy breaks the Mullaiperiyar dam, then farmers in five districts in Tamil Nadu have to commit suicide. I am going to end my life for the cause of the dam. I have chosen Vriddhachalam because it was the constituency that first recognized Vijayakanth and the DMDK party.Vijayakanth was elected as MLA from Vriddhachalam constituency in the 2006 assembly elections. Sekar is survived by wife Mohana, two sons Vinoth (13) and Vishnu (8), and daughter Nandhini (6).Police Inspector Seeralan said he consumed an insecticide which was not available in Vriddhachalam. DMDK president Vijayakanth, who condoled the death of Sekar, said his death was a huge loss to the party.
