BANGALORE: From now, an umbrella, a simple pipe and a storing bucket is all that you require to set up rain water harvesting at your home. A simple and cheaper procedure was innovated by Shiv Kumar, a scientist from the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Indian Institute of Science, on the eve of World Environment Day.
Displaying his new equipment at the World Environment Day celebrations, Kumar was encouraged by the chairman of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB). Speaking to TNIE Shiv Kumar said, "When I saw a cartoon depicting similar picture I thought why can't we put this into practice. I tried, and it worked. The cost is very affordable and a smaller one is very suitable for those, who cannot afford to setup a bigger one which are expensive."
