HYDERABAD: The Congress core committee is learnt to have decided to take a decision on the contentious Telangana issue only after completion of consultations with the leaders of both Telangana and Seemandhra regions. Accordingly, Union minister and incharge of AP affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad will have a dialogue with Telangana Congress public representatives on July 25. A 15-member delegation comprising 4 T-ministers, 6 MPs and 5 MLAs will participate in the dialogue process.After talking to Telangana Congress leaders at a meeting which lasted for more than three hours in his office in Delhi, Azad informed newsmen that it has been to have a dialogue with a smaller group comprising Telangana ministers, MPs and MLAs. "Yesterday, I had a meeting with more than 30 Telangana Congress leaders.Today it was decided to have talks with a smaller number from Monday onwards,'' he added.Telangana Congress steering committee members who include minister K Jana Reddy and Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao first had a meeting with Azad for about one-and-half hour, and made it clear to the latter that their other colleagues would come for discussions only after the Centre takes a decision on Telangana.Talking to newsmen later, committee spokespersons MPs G Sukhender Reddy, S Rajaiah, MLA G Venkata Ramana Reddy claimed that the proposed dialogue process with the leaders of both the regions would facilitate the Congress leadership to take a clear stand on the issue."We have reiterated our stand to Azad that there is no alternative to Telangana state. We have placed before him the promises made by the Congress on Telangana.River water disputes, state capital and other issues also figured during the discussions,'' they added.Replying to a query, Sukhender Reddy asserted that they would rethink on their resignations only after getting a concrete statement from the Centre on Telangana.
