CBI to intensify probe as they have found discrepancies in Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh’s ITR returns and its revised returns.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday transfers Himachal Pradesh CM Virbhadra Singh’s disproportionate case to Delhi High Court.

Now with the latest development Singh’s will not be arrested until petition is disposed. In October 2015, the CBI has challenged a Himachal Pradesh high court order restraining the agency from interrogating or filing charge-sheet against Singh and his wife in a Rs 6 crore-disproportionate assets case.

Later Singh has filed a petition challenging FIR against him. There are allegations against Singh of amassing unexplained wealth of Rs 6.1 crore while he was serving as Union Minister of Steel during 2009-11. Apart from Singh, then an investigation was also initiated against his wife Pratibha Singh, son Vikramaditya Singh, daughter Aparajita Singh and an LIC agent Anand Chauhan.

"During probe Singh claimed that Rs 6.1 crore he earned from his Apple orchard but his ITR returns were Rs 7.35 lakhs in 2009-10 and revised return was Rs 2.21 crore. Similarly, during 2010-11 his ITR return was Rs 15 lakh and the revised return was Rs 2.21 crore. In 2011-12, his ITR was Rs 25 lakhs and the revised one was 1.55 crore. We have found some discrepancies in the figures and therefore we are examining the veracity of a complaint”, CBI sources said.
