New Delhi: Delhi Police's Special Investigation Team probing Sunanda Pushkar death case on Wednesday summoned former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh for questioning. "SIT has informed me that Amar Singh has been called in for questioning. He is being quizzed," said Delhi Police chief BS Bassi.
Amar Singh had claimed that Sunanda had accepted the blame for IPL wrongdoings. The investigators are examining whether the IPL controversy had anything to do with Sunanda's death.
The IPL controversy had broken out in early 2010 when Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was Minister of State for External Affairs. There were allegations that he had "misused" his office to ensure that Rs 70 crore, which was equivalent to 19 per cent equity in IPL Kochi franchise Rendezvous Sports, was paid to Sunanda.
The SIT has already questioned Tharoor, journalist Nalini Singh and various house hold helpers of Sunanda Pushkar during the investigation. Sunanda's son may also be called for questioning in the case.
Bassi said that Tharoor will be questioned again.
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a room of Hotel Leela in January 2014.
