In the report submitted before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, the Crime Detachment (Special Investigating Team) saidthat the CBI had not registered any criminal case against Kannur MP Sudhakaran but had only forwarded the letter from the Supreme Court registrar to the CBI Chennai unit. The report submitted by Crime Detachment Assistant Commissioner K E Baiju further states that the CBI officials were reluctant to give the details in writing. It also appealed to the court to issue orders to the Chennai unit of the CBI to furnish the details. Sudhakaran in his controversial speech had said that he was witness to an apex court judge being bribed by certain persons on behalf of some bar owners from the state for getting a favourable order in a bar licence case several years back.CONTEMPT PLEA FILED Meanwhile, a contempt of court petition was filed against Sudhakaran for another controversial speech at Iritty in Kannur on August 26. In his speech, Sudhakaran had reportedly said that the court should not interfere in issues that did not come under its jurisdiction. According to the petition, this amounted to downgrading of the judiciary.
