VISAKHAPATNAM: Tension prevailed for some time at the Visakhapatnam airport on Sunday as members of Samaikyandhra Students Joint Action Committee tried to submit a representation to PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana in support of United Andhra Pradesh. Around 40 students reached the airport with placards and banners. Seven members including JAC convener Adari Kishore Kumar were taken into custody as they raised slogans against Botcha stating that he was indirectly supporting the bifurcation of state for his political mileage.Speaking to media, Kumar said Botcha was highly corrupt and was suppressing the agitation for united Andhra for political mileage. While Telangana students attacked leaders and damaged public property, police did not arrest any students. But the Samaikyandhra studets JAC members went to the airport to submit a representation to the minister, police used force and arrested them which was highly undemocratic, he alleged.Members of Samaikyandhra Students Joint Action Committee are gearing up to stage protest before the Kancharapalem police station.
