HYDERABAD: Osmania University campus continued to remain on the boil for the second consecutive day on Wednesday after the rally taken out by the OU students turned violent with protestors pelting stones at the police and para-military forces, who retaliated by lobbing tear gas shells and stun grenades.About six persons suffered injuries including a media person who was hit with a stone on his face due to which he collapsed and fell unconscious. Trouble started at around 11.30 a.m., when scores of students gathered at the Arts College to take out a rally to Gun Park. However, the police stopped them at the NCC Gate. At this point, hundreds of students tried to force their way through the armed policemen and when they could not succeed, they started pelting stones at them. Soon, the police personnel lobbed tear gas shells and used stun grenades to bring the situation under control.Amid this chaos, a reporter of a TV channel was hit by a stone on his face. He was rushed to a hospital where his  condition is said to be stable. Back in the campus, minor skirmishes continued between the students and the policemen till evening. The police picked up over 20 students who indulged in stone-pelting.Several students suffered injuries when they were hit by tear gas shells. The injured where shifted to a hospital. Around 2 pm, normalcy restored near NCC gate as the students dispersed. However around 3 p.m violence broke out again near B-hostel as the students started pelting stones at the policemen stationed at Osmania University police station. It continued for a couple of hours. However, after the statement of home minister P Chidambaram, violence escalated with  students gathering in large numbers and the clashes continued till about 7 p.m.Osmania University Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) spokesperson P Kailash said on Thursday students would go to the residences of public representatives in the city, who did not put in their papers, to demand their resignations.
