HYDERABAD: Loud cheers resounded in the hall and energy was palpable as students marched adorned in the trafiic commando regalia. Students from class VIII and IX from various city schools in the city put up an impressive show during the induction ceremony of student traffic commandos at the Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium on Thursday.Close to 6,000 students from 300 school received training as traffic commandos to regulate traffic near their respective schools and regulate parking of vehicles in the premises, keeping in mind the safety of younger students. Additional commissioner of police, CV Anand proposed the training should be made a regular feature for all schools. “We will request the state government to issue a order and allot funds to the training programme, so it can be implemented at all schools. Our officers and constables will visit schools on Saturday to educate children. We plan to create traffic awareness among all students,” he said.The newly inducted commandos demonstrated their skills in regulating traffic at various kinds of busy traffic junctions under the guidance of traffic instructor Adil Aktar.Renu Challa, managing director, State Bank of Hyderabad commended the students for volunteering for the training programme. Tollywood actor Srikanth praised the efforts of traffic constables in making the city a better place.
