TIRUNELVELI: People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy (PMANE) coordinator S P Udayakumar stated that the protest against the Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project would continue till the plant is closed. Talking to agitators at Idinthakarai on Monday, when CPI senior leader R Nallakannu visited the protest venue, Udayakumar said that it was an important day because Nallakannu, who is respected by all walks of people, came here to take a stand.Briefing reporters, Udayakumar said that as far as the issue of surrendering his passport was concerned, he would file a case in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court. “Mugilan and Sathish, had no Naxalite connection as alleged,” he said. He said some people opposed the visit of Kerala CPM leader V S Achuthanandan to Idinthakarai on April 12. “After speaking to him, Prashant Bhushan told us that he will come here. In this connection, two party men have already come here,” Udayakumar said.On a Sri Lankan minister deciding to raise concern about KKNPP in the International Atomic Energy Agency in a September meeting, he said that it was the right of a country and its people to do what they wanted. “We cannot express our view on that,” he said.
