Manish Soni from Bangalore asked: How many mock papers should we attend in a week just before CAT ? Is it good to attend two to three papers as long as we analyse all of them?
Answer: I would suggest doing not more than two papers (preferably one) in the week preceding CAT. The objective now should be to revise and revise as much as possible. It is better to avoid getting into new stuff at this point.
Vijay Surve from Mumbai asked: Am I eligible to give CAT as I have around 9 years of software development experience? Suggest proper guideline so that I can start preparation as early as possible.
Answer: There is no upper age limit to get into a B-school. People have done that even after 12 to 15 years of experience. You can start now by looking at a real CAT paper and finding out what amount of effort will you need to crack it depending on whether you can commit to the level of effort required. Start with the relevant preparation material.
Dhruv Dingliwal from Kolkata asked: Is it good to go for MBA with a work experience of less than one year? What are the possible implications of this on the future lateral placements scenario?
Answer: You can go in for a MBA as a fresher as well. People with up to two years of experience are usually considered equivalent to freshers except for the industry from where the person has pre-MBA experience. Placements are not dependent necessarily on your pre-MBA experience.
Nitiksh from Bhubaneswar asks: I am ac 3rd year engineering student, when should I start preparing for next year’s CAT?
Answer: You can start preparing now itself. You will have flexibility in your preparation schedule if you start early. You are likely to get little time during your industrial training at the end of the 3rd year. You can make up for it now.
Anirban Talukdar from Hyderabad asks: I would like to know as to what are the specialisations that can be taken up by a computer science engineer after clearing the CAT examination.
Answer: An MBA programme is not necessarily linked to your engineering specialisation. However, if you will like to use your learning in engineering even after your MBA, you may look at the Systems Management specialisation.
