NAGERCOIL: Five special teams, headed by one Additional SP and four DSPs  have been formed to nab the culprits involved in the double murder near Suchinduram on Thursday night.The teams have already begun investigations. It may be recalled that Arumugam (50) an office assistant employed at the Aralvoimozhy Forest Department checkpost, and his wife Yogeswari (42), a housewife, were shot dead on Thursday night on the Akkarai-Theroor Road when they were on their way to their native place Theroor.“This is perhaps the first time in Kanyakumari district that a murder has been committed using a firearm,” a senior police officer told ‘Express’.The bullets recovered from the bodies of the victims were of a 9 mm calibre weapon, a prohibited bore, normally used by police and defence personnel, he added. “We have sent separate special teams to various parts of the district to check our police armouries and to various locations in Kanyakumari and Tirunelveli districts, where Central forces are being deployed for security,” he added.Residents of Arumugam’s native place and his colleagues do not find any particular reason for his murder, the official added. The jewels worn by Yogeswari also remained intact. The bodies were handed over to relatives after a postmortem at the Kanyakumari GH. The deceased couple is survived by son Muthukumar (26), a software engineer at Chennai, and daughter Anusha (21) who is pursuing engineering course in a college in the district.
