Special ration shop for leprosy patients

CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday inaugurated a special fair price shop in SIDCO Nagar area of Villivakkam for families of those affected by leprosy.
The shop, located in Balaramapuram, will function on Mondays and serve as many as 232 families affected by leprosy, in the area. These families had so far been attached to the Chintamani Fair Price Shop No 3, which was handling a total of 1,811 families. The Chief Minister, who inaugurated the shop through videoconferencing from the Secretariat, told the people at the venue that steps would be taken to ensure the shop functioned properly. If there was a problem, the people could take it up with the local MLA, who would look into it, she said.
