Some unidentified people pelted stones at a special train carrying devotees to Ayodhya in Maharashtra’s Nandurbar on Sunday. The Astha Special train was running from Gujarat’s Surat to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, where the grand Ram Temple was inaugurated recently.

According to ANI, there has not been any injury in the incident but the incident caused panic among the devotees, who were travelling for the darshan of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya. The Railways police have registered a complaint in the matter.

The Astha Special train was flagged off from Surat at 8 pm on Sunday by Union Minister of State for Railways and Surat BJP MP Darshana Jardosh with over 1300 passengers and the stone pelting incident occurred at 10:45 pm on the same day.

As per the preliminary investigation, some passengers were able to immediately close the windowpane when the attack happened but some stones landed inside the coach. However, no one was hurt.

GRP and RPF personnel reached the spot promptly and, after their investigation, allowed the train to proceed towards its destination.

“We have come across an incident of stone pelting on the Astha special train and the police are investigating the incident. The train was reserved for VHP and Ram Pratistha of Surat workers,” Minister Jardosh told the Indian Express.

Political Leaders Visit Ayodhya Ram Temple

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said state cabinet ministers will soon visit Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh, where the idol consecration of the Ram Temple took place on January 22. Fadnavis, however, did not share further details.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann along with their family members offered prayers at the Ram temple in Ayodhya on Monday.

Earlier, over 325 Uttar Pradesh legislators barring those from the main opposition Samajwadi Party offered prayers at the newly-built Ram temple in Ayodhya.
