The CPM members on Wednesday took out a march against the government’s decision on to limit the number of subsidised cooking gas cylinders a year from nine to six. The march was taken out by the Ernakulam district committee members from Nadakkavu to the IOC plant at Udayamperoor.
Hundreds of people from Tripunithura, Mulanthuruthy and Udayamperoor took part in the march. P Rajeev MP inaugurated the public meeting in front of the Udayamperoor IOC plant. He said the normal life of the public has been affected due to the fuel price hike and the cut down in the number of subsidised gas cylinders. “The state government is coming out with inhumane policies that have affected common man. Now, people will have to depend more on unsubsidised LPG cylinders as the number of subsidised LPG cylinders has been cut short.
People cannot afford the price hike of LPG cylinders as their income still remains the same. The state government should intervene in the matter and the LPG crisis should be solved at the earliest,” he said.
He also said that though the Central Government had decided to roll back the LPG cylinder restriction in Congress-ruled states, it was not implemented in Kerala.
“The Central Government has not given any consideration to Kerala in this matter,” he said. CPM leader C M Dinesh Mani and other CPM members also participated in the march.
