KOZHIKODE: Bijesh Balakrishnan, hailing from Koyilandi, who was hijacked by the Somalian pirates on February 8, has been released, according to his family members. Father of Bijesh, Balakrishnan Nair confirmed that he received a call form his son on Friday morning. The Italian government had announced the release of the 22 members of the Italian ship on Wednesday.Balakrishnan Nair said that Bijesh told him that the pirates had left the ship but there was no oil or food in the ship.Bijesh also explained that there was no food provided for the captives in the 10 months other than water and rice soup. The father also said that Bijesh would return to his home in a week time as the Italian government has already started the rescue activities. Bijesh talked to his parents for almost 10 minutes over the phone.
