New Delhi: A six-year-old boy died after falling into a septic tank in his school in south Delhi on Saturday, but his parents alleged foul play.
The boy, identified as Divyansh Kakrora, was a class I student at Ryan International School in Vasant Kunj, police said.
Police sources said the incident took place around noon and that school authorities did not inform them immediately.
The child's parents alleged a conspiracy saying they were informed of his death by the hospital and not by school authorities.
"Nobody will die in that septic tank, it is only 2.5 m deep. The death of my child is a conspiracy hatched by the school" the child's father said.
He said he was initially told by school authorities that his son was not well before being informed by the doctor that he was dead.
He also alleged that when he asked the cause of his son's death a top school official told him, "Stay mum, that will benefit you."
Delhi's deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia asked district magistrate of New Delhi to conduct an inquiry.
The principal of the school, Sandhya Sabu, said the boy was administered first aid by the school medical staff before being rushed to hospital.
"This child had the tendency to run away from his class," she said.
Police said the child was brought dead to hospital, and that they got a call around 2:40 pm.
"The child went missing when the seventh period was on. There was a poetry competition in school, that's why the kid was there. We will take legal action," said Prem Nath DCP (South)
Police registered a case of causing death due negligence under section 304A.
