Sister Abhaya was not raped before death: CBI

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sister Abhaya was not raped before her death, deposed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation team which conducted a probe into the murder of the nun, before the CBI Special Court here on Monday.The deposition was included in a report filed by CBI Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nandakumar Nair in reply to a petition filed by Neyyattinkara Nagaraj, a counsel, seeking further investigation into the case. The petitioner had alleged that Abhaya was raped before the murder. The CBI Judge dismissed the petition accepting the statement of the ASP that the allegation made by the petitioner was incorrect, in the light of the forensic evidence. The ASP also dismissed the allegations by the petitioner, including that the investigation by the CBI was improper. The post-mortem report of Abhaya also did not mention about rape.A few months ago, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) here had found out that the work register related to the chemical analysis test of the internal organs of Sister Abhaya at the Chief Chemical Examiner’s Lab was tampered with. The tampered portion included the entries in the work book register that mentioned about the presence of semen in her vagina. The trial of Chief Chemical Examiner M Chitra and Chemical Analyst R Geetha is also going on before the CJM Court in this regard.
