CHENNAI: Over a hundred State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) buses ferrying passengers from the southern districts to Chennai were delayed due to shortage of diesel in the city on Wednesday. While many of the morning services had to be cancelled, the crew had a hard time trying to arrange for fuel for the return trip, said SETC sources.Sources also said that the crew of over a hundred buses that had reached Chennai in the morning from Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tuticorin, had a tough time refuelling. While the crew is generally entitled to at least eight hours of rest before the return trip, they had to go without any rest in the day. SETC officials were not available for comments.
