The state police on Tuesday decided to hand over the investigation of the Shoji murder case to the Crime Branch Ernakulam unit. Shoji, 35, wife of Shaji, was found murdered at her house in Kothamangalam in August.
The decision to hand over the investigation was taken after the Kothamangalam police gave a request in this regard last week. The order was issued by the Director General of Police(DGP) on Wednesday.
The case will be investigated by the Hurt and Homicide Wing of the Crime Branch. However, the Crime Branch officials said that they have consented to take up the case, but they had not received the order in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Kothamangalam police on Monday submitted a request before the Magistrate Court there for conducting a brain mapping and polygraph test on Shoji’s husband Shaji.
The court had issued a notice to Shaji in this regard on Tuesday. The approval for brain mapping and polygraph test would be given if Shaji agrees to undergo the test. The gold jewellery in the house was found missing after the murder.
