Shashi Kapoor Passes Away, But it is Shashi Tharoor's Office Which Gets Condolence Calls
In his own inimitable style, Tharoor wrote that reports of his demise were if not exaggerated, at least premature.

It was a horrible mix-up, but trust Shashi Tharoor to see the lighter side of it. Shortly after legendary Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor died, a channel tweeted the Congress MP's name by mistake.

Soon Tharoor's office was flooded with calls and he responded on Twitter in his own inimitable way.

"We're getting condolence calls in the office! Reports of my demise are, if not exaggerated, at least premature" Tharoor tweeted. It's the author-politician's take off on the famous quote attributed to the legendary Mark Twain.

The journalist apologised for his mistake and wished Tharoor a healthy life. The Congress MP graciously accepted the apology and wrote, “Mistakes happen. Glad to be able to crack a smile at a tragic moment.”

Tharoor also tweeted out a heartfelt condolence message and said it 'feels a part of me is gone'.

“A great actor, smart, cosmopolitan, impossibly handsome & w/a name that was often confused w/mine. (My office got two calls from journalists today about my reportedly serious ill-health!) I will miss #ShashiKapoor. Condolences2his family&all his fans (sic),” he wrote.

The 79-year-old actor, who worked in more than 160 films, took his last breath at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday.
