KEONJHAR: The Justice MB Shah Commission, inquiring into the illegal mining scam in Odisha, on Saturday visited five mines in the Joda mining circle. The Commission first visited ML Sharda and SL Sharda mines at Barbil and enquired about their MoU with the Jindal Steel and Power company for provision of iron ore. Justice Shah also enquired about the IBM mining plan.Rourkela: The Commission on Saturday skipped the Koida mining sector in Sundargarh district. Following this, the CITU members staged a road blockade on the NH-215 at Koida and a dharna in front of the office of Koida Deputy Director for Mines (DDM) S N Sinku.Among other things, they have been demanding reopening of mines and restoration of jobs to workers. In a separate incident, two employees of the mining office were on Friday noon found setting afire some official documents in the backyard of the DDM office. However, the DDM said they were waste papers and a report in this regard has been submitted to Sundargarh Collector Rupa Roshan Sahu.CITU leaders, however, alleged that valuable documents were destroyed to erase evidence of illegal mining.
