'Saraswati' was my most uninhibited performance: Sakshi
Sakshi Tanwar, who worked in one of the longest running soaps on television, describes her appearance in the short story 'Saraswati', in the 1990s Doordarshn show 'Ehsaas', as her most carefree performance.
"It was a show called 'Ehsaas' and I did the story of 'Saraswati' and I would rate it as my most uninhibited performance. I had no clue about anything. I was just being the character. I talked non-stop in the show," Sakshi, who played an ideal daughter-in-law in 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' for eight years, told IANS.
"From that time to now, it has been a long and fulfulling journey. Acting was something I hadn?t planned. I wanted to be a civil servant and I did a three-and-a-half-year diploma in software engineering. I never thought that my hobby will become my profession and something I would be proud of," added the actress, whose new show 'Bade Achche Lagte Hain' is getting good response from the viewers.
Asked about future plans, she quipped: "As far as plans are concerned, it's better I execute the plans that have been made for me by god."
Distribution system is killing independent cinema: Onir
Onir has carved a niche for making unusual small budget films like 'My Brother Nikhil' and 'I AM', and feels there is a demand for such films. But he blames the distribution system for not letting independent movies reach out to a bigger audience.
"The idea is to reach out. I don?t think the films are as niche as they are made out to be. I think distribution system is killing small and independent cinema. The support system is not provided," Onir told IANS.
"Even if there is a 30 percent collection, keep the film in the theatre because taste for such films develops over time. If you go to Europe, they have a chain of theatres which only show independent cinema. We don?t have anything like that here.
"NFDC (National Film Development Corporation of India) can play an important role in developing theatres all over India which only screen independent cinema," said the filmmaker who is busy with his production venture "Chauranga".
He will wield the megaphone for 'Shab' next year.
