Serena shrugs off Hantuchova, cramps
Serena returned from a calf muscle spasm to defeat the Slovakian.

New Delhi: Former Wimbledon champion Serena Williams, playing her fourth round match against Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova, survived injury scares to go through to the quarter-finals on Monday.

Serena won the first set comfortably, but was made to sweat it out in the second, during which she injured herself with severe cramps.

But after a rain delay at the All England Chamionships, Serena came back stronger and raced away with the third set 6-2 in 42 minutes.

"Well, like I said, I would have felt weird if I hadn't tried. I mean, if I'd have came back and I wasn't able to do anything, then it just... I would have felt okay. At least I tried. You can't knock anyone for trying. So I just would have felt bad if I didn't try," Serena said on returning after suffering a calf muscle spasm.

Serena Williams will meet Belgium's Justine Henin in the quarterf-finals.
