Seemandhra TDP Leaders to Meet on July 20

HYDERABAD: Close on the heels of Seemandhra Congress leaders’ conference in Vijayawada on Saturday, Telugu Desam leaders from the region are holding a similar meeting in Guntur on July 20.Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, TDP leader K Yerran Naidu said that they were acting as per the aspirations of the people of Andhra and Rayalaseema. Accusing the Congress of failure to take a decision on the state’s bifurcation issue, he said, “Only the central government can take a decision on the matter. But it has been dodging the issue and playing with the lives of the people of all the regions.” Sources said that though the TDP Seemandhra leaders wanted to maintain a low profile after Ghulam Nabi Azad’s statement, they were compelled to hold a meeting in favour of United Andhra after Congress leaders held a meeting to derive political mileage. Holding UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi respnosible for the impasse in the state, he said Sonia should break her silence and take a decision on the Telangana demand without delay.Meanwhile, Telangana Telugu Desam Forum (TTDF) convener E Dayakar Rao called on Telangana Praja Front (TPF) founder Gadar and wanted him to take the initiative for launching an apolitical movement for Telangana. Speaking to reporters later, Dayakar Rao said that the TTDF wanted an apolitical movement. Alleging that the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee had failed to lead an all-party movement, Gadar said he would take the initiative for an apolitical movement. “The credit for fighting against the illegal construction of Babli project on Godavari in Maharashtra goes to the TDP,’’ the balladeer said and announced that he would meet TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu soon to personally know his stand on Telangana.
