Bhopal: As the country was abuzz with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s move to form anti-Romeo squads in UP, a class IX girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior city ended life after being repeatedly harassed by some local boys.
Finishing her annual exams on Wednesday, the class IX girl committed suicide the same night, hanging self from a ceiling fan inside her room.
The girl had apparently not disclosed the incidents of repeated harassment to her family. Since her grandfather was seriously ill, she thought bothering her family was not a good idea.
A resident of Lekhragali in Gwalior, the girl ended life when she was on the ground floor, and her family was on the first floor. The girl used her mother’s sari to make the noose.
After her unfortunate demise, her younger brother confessed to his family that she was mentally stressed, after being repeatedly harassed by some local boys.
According to brother, she did not reveal anything to the family, owing to her grandfather's ailment, who was to be taken outside the city for treatment.
Unable to bear the mental trauma, she ended life, an officer from Gwalior police said. Police have registered a case against unknown boys, and have undertaken a probe.
