Preity Zinta will appear in a court in connection with an alleged taped conversation between actors Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai.

Mumbai: Bollywood star Preity Zinta will appear in a court here next month in connection with an alleged taped conversation between actors Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai in which her name was mentioned in an objectionable manner.

Preity Zinta had filed a defamation case against a Mumbai newspaper for publishing an article about the alleged taped conversation and she will testify as the main witness in the case in the court of additional metropolitan magistrate of Girgaum in South Mumbai on January 23. The lawsuit was filed in 2005.

Preity was to appear in the court on Wednesday, but the matter was adjourned to January 23.

A forensic laboratory has already testified in the court, saying that the voices on the tapes were not those of Khan and Rai. The tapes of the alleged telephonic conversation first came to fore in 2005. They were later examined in 2005 by the forensic laboratory in Chandigarh.
