Readymade garment store gutted at Abids

HYDERABAD: Readymade garments and chemicals were reduced to ashes, in fires that broke out in two different places, in the city on Wednesday.The fires broke out at Fantoosh store in Abids and at a chemical godown in Mallapur.No causalities were reported. The Fantoosh store was gutted completely.Around 6 p.m, flames began emanating from second floor of the twostoried building.The security staff alerted the management.“As soon as we received information, the fire service staff along with 10 fire tenders from Gowliguda, Musheerabad, Malkajgiri, Moghalpura, Langer Houz and Sanathnagar rushed to the spot and doused the flames,” said Karimuddin, Hyderabad district fire officer.The Fantoosh store is located in the busy Abids locality. Police diverted the traffic from Abids towards Koti.Traffic came to a standstill on Abids stretch for more than 90 minutes. Fire officials suspect short-circuit to be the reason for the mishap.In the other incident, fire broke out at a chemical godown located in Mallapur.Residents, who noticed the fire, alerted the fire fighters.They rushed to the spot along with 2 fire tenders from Moula Ali and Hayathnagar and doused the flames.
