Three city hotels were ordered to close down as they functioned under unhygienic conditions during raids conducted by special squads constituted by the state Food Safety Commissioner on Saturday.
Kumar cafe, Killippalam, Buhari, Attakulanga and Kalpaka Seafood Restaurant, Technopark, are the three hotels ordered to close down. Legal notices have also been served on these hotels, State Food Safety Commissioner Biju Prabhakar said in a release.
Out of the 77 hotels where raids were conducted on Saturday, 66 of them were issued improvement notice.
A sum of `2,89,500 was collected as fine through compounding as per law.
Biju Prabhakar said 66 hotels had so far been closed out of the 1081 hotels where raids were conducted till Saturday.
A total of 618 hotels have been issued improvement notice. Fine worth Rs 14,28,000 had been collected so far.
