New Delhi: The condition of Rahul Mahajan, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, is "serious but stable" after he was admitted to Apollo Hopital in the wee hours of Friday morning.
"Rahul's condition is serious but stable, all his vital parametres are functioning normally", Apollo Hospital spokesperson Karan Thakur said.
Asked about the cause of Rahul's ailment, Thakur said a team of doctors were looking into it.
"Whether the food poisoning happened because of stale eatables or some poisonous substance was mixed with the food we cannot say at the moment," he said.
A multi-disciplinary medical team headed by Dr Prasad Rao, the hospital's internal medicine specialist, is attending to Rahul who was admitted at 0300 hrs (IST).
He said while Mahajan's PA, Bibek Maitra was brought in dead, Rahul was unconscious and was immediately rushed to the Intensive Care Unit.
An official statement on Rahul's condition will be issued soon, he added.
