Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said that development of Bijapur district would be given due priority irrespective of its inclusion in the ambit of amendment to Article 371.

During an interaction with mediapersons at the Women University here on Sunday he said that Bijapur is also a backward district. Its development is the state government’s priority while framing various schemes and development programmes, he said and added that the BJP government had been doing more for the district. He pointed out that the district would soon get an irrigation network through the minor irrigation (MI) tanks filling programme.

When asked about naming the project, Shettar said that the decision would be taken at an appropriate time.

The CM said that he had unveiled the plague for a memorial to mark the decennial (10th) celebration of the Women’s University as it was established in 2003. He said that Dr Ambedkar Bhavan is ready for inauguration now.
