BANGALORE: President Pratibha Patil will deliver the 45th convocation address at the University of Agricultural Sciences(UAS), Bangalore, on August 6. She will also present gold medals to 117 students at the ceremony. Governor Hans Raj Bhardwaj, the Chancellor of the university, will award degree certificates to 656 students. M Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Corporate Affairs and Umesh V Katti, Minister for Agriculture and the Prochancellor, are also expected to attend the ceremony to be held at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra.At a press meet organised by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dr K Narayana Gowda, Vice-Chancellor, UAS, announced that the President's visit to the city will also comprise a brainstorming session on agriculture in rainfed areas. He said that UAS will act as a facilitator of this session. The session to be organised at the Governor's residence will also explore dry land agricultural methods.Further, it will attempt to explore the possibility of involving the corporate sector in agriculture to explore better income opportunities for the farmers of the country.Dr Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Corporate Affairs, Bangera, President, Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry are expected to attend this deliberation.
