MADURAI: ‘Pottu’ Suresh, the once powerful aide of Union minister and former chief minister’s son MK Alagiri, is ready to part ways with his leader, according to informed sources.Recollecting the deeds he committed, which include intimidating journos for publishing news items which portrayed his proximity with Alagiri, ‘Pottu’ Suresh expressed his helplessness to police escorts while he was being brought back to the district court.It was also said that in police custody, he had spilled the beans against an IPS officer who had served in the Madurai range, stating that he was prompt in issuing transfer orders to police officials in order to please the Union minister.These goodwill gestures by the official machinery had ceased once the date for election to the Assembly was announced, he had remarked.“Even if I am acquitted of all the charges against me, I will not go near the Union minister,” ‘Pottu’ Suresh said, adding in the same breath, “It’s time for me to regret some things.” Suresh, who is now lodged in the Palayamkottai prison on a land grabbing charge involving property worth over `1 crore was later added as the prime accused in the murder of Pandiarajan, an auto driver and close relative of ‘Attack’ Pandi — another Alagiri aide — following ‘Essar’ Gopi’s confessions.Apprehensions were strong that ‘Pottu’ Suresh might turn against Alagiri.With his strong political background and money power, ‘Pottu’ Suresh had availed of all the benefits, including food from outside, mobile phones, cigarettes, and liquor inside the Central Prison.This was reported in Express and later, all these fringe benefits were curtailed.According to jail sources, now ‘Pottu’ Suresh is taking prison food.
