BANGALORE “It is an enquiry of the self, it is an unique experiment which has not been accomplished in the last 75 years, it is experimental poetry,” said Dr Mallepuram G Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor of Karnatak Sanskrit University.He was describing ‘Kannakadu’ a poetry collection penned by Professor K E Radhakrishna. The book was released in a function held at Chitra Kala Parishat on Tuesday. Governor HR Bharadwaj was the chief guest and released the book.Relating his memories of childhood and his experiences of education, Professor Radhakrishna stressed on the role his teachers had played in his current success and thanked them for having moulded his life.Speaking about the book he said, “It is the longest poetry in recent history and it deals with various relationships between man andwoman, man and earth and mind and body.”Governor Bharadwaj expressed happiness at the fact that Professor Radhakrishna remembered his professors and stated that teachers are responsible for teaching their students the path of Dharma and righteousness. “I unfortunately cannot read Kannada but I have a fair idea of the book. Indian philosophies provide the answers to most of life’s problems,” he said.The book contains 3000 lines of poetry in free verse along with 20 illustrations by renowned artists like V.K.S Verma, M.S. Murthy and Krishna Raichur and critical commentaries by Mallepuram Venkatesh and Hampa Nagaraj.
