KOCHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will inaugurate ‘Emerging Kerala’, a three-day event to showcase the investment opportunities available in the state in Kochi on September 12. The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), the nodal investment promotion agency of the state government has signed an MoU with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for promoting the event across the world. The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) will be an event partner. ‘Emerging Kerala’ will have participation from corporate leaders, various governments, foreign dignitaries, heads of major regulatory institutions, banks and financial institutions, scholars, leading economists and others from across the globe.The programmes as part of the meet include business meets, sector-wise conclaves, domestic and international road shows, discussion and debates. The state government plans to attract partnerships with potential investors for a slew of mega projects in the State. Key projects identified for partnerships include supplementary gas infrastructure, Vizhinjam international container trans-shipment terminal, high speed rail corridor, Kochi-Coimbatore industrial corridor, life sciences park, electronic hub, power projects, municipal waste management and centres of excellence in higher education. The key sectors for investment promotion include IT and IT-enabled services, tourism, health care services, engineering and automotive, trade and retailing, food agro processing and value addition, gems and jewellery, rare earth minerals, textiles and garments, ports, ship building and related industries, electronics, knowledge and education sector, gas-based infrastructure, green energy, bio-technology, nano technology, pharmaceuticals and urban infrastructure development. The three-day event will have a couple of sessions including, round table discussion, business to business (B2B) connects and business to government (B2G) connects.
