New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met President A P J Abdul Kalam on Friday. The meeting lasted for 35 minutes.
During the meeting the two leaders discussed a range of issues which included PM's upcoming trip to Kuala Lumpur, where Singh is to attend India-ASEAN and East-Asia Summit (EAS).
As part of India and the Association of South East Asian Nations, India aims to forge a free-trade agreement by the start of 2007.
Singh is to also attend the first ever EAS, which has a long-term objective of establishing an Asian Economic Community on the lines of the European Union.
The PM also briefed Kalam about his three-day visit to Russia. On his return from Moscow, the PM said he had "very satisfying discussions" with Putin on civilian nuclear energy.
The two leaders also discussed the current Parliament session, Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman S M Khan said.
President apprised Singh about his recent visit to earthquake-affected areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
Kalam also spoke of his recent aerial survey of flood-affected areas of Tamil Nadu and his subsequent discussions with Chief Minister Jayalalithaa about relief and rehabilitation work, Khan said.
