THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Congress (B) leader R Balakrishna Pillai on Friday welcomed the CBI probe into the Valakam attack case in which Krishnakumar, a teacher of his school, was injured. Refuting the allegation that he had personal enmity with Krishnakumar, Pillai said that he shared a good relation with the teacher. Addressing mediapersons here, Pillai also criticised his son and Minister K B Ganesh Kumar for not discussing with him or the party the sharing of Boards and Corporations. “If the minister has taken a decision then it is on his own.It was not discussed with me or the senior leaders of the party and the issue will be discussed,” he said.Refuting the charges from the Opposition camp that his parole and remission were unlawful, Pillai said that everything had been done as per the law. “Like any other normal prisoner I was granted only 75 days’ parole as per prison rules. The Opposition is spreading baseless allegations that 2,300 prisoners were released just for releasing me. In fact I had spent 8 months and 17 days in the prison whereas I should have spent only 8 months, counting the 5 to 8 holidays that comes in every month,” he said.Pillai said that he was given the same facility in the jail like any other prisoner. “I just got the facility of ‘A’ class prisoner. I never asked for any additional facilities such as TV or AC in the jail. The allegation that I have used mobile phone inside the jail is also baseless,” he said.
