Sonia and PM too gunning for Patil's office that did not do enough.

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil is in the eye of storm following the Mumbai terror attacks.

The members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Saturday expressed their dissatisfaction with the Home Ministry.

Sources say that CWC members came down heavily on the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh for their failure.

Reports also suggest that Deshmukh has conveyed that the police force in the state capital is stretched for resources and strength. It was also learnt that the state of Maharashtra, after repeated hits by terrorists has sought to fashion a force akin to the NSG (National Security Guard commandoes).

Even UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are believed to have pulled up the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil for not doing enough.

It is said that Patil's ministry failed to take cognisance of a serious input from intelligence about the impending attack long before terrorists struck Mumbai on Wednesday night, November 26.

Among the other things discussed in the meeting, the PM reiterated his demand for modernisation of police forces, tougher laws and better intelligence coordination.

It was also decided that both the PM and the External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will talk tough with Pakistan.

The Prime Minister has also for the first time called an All-party meeting to appeal for cooperation from all parties to fight terror.

What's your reaction?
