Sambalpur (Orissa): Suraj Singh, a 23-year?old boy from Orissa, has requested the state government to allow him to end his own life.
After he met with an accident, Suraj has been bedridden for the last one year with a critical spinal injury.
His parents have no money to spend on his treatment. His body is completely paralysed and many wounds have still not healed.
For the last one year Suraj?s family has spent all their money on his treatment and now they are left with nothing.
With no other option in sight Suraj says: "I cannot bear this pain any more. If the government can?t help me, at least they should allow me to kill myself."
Suraj?s parents have requested every one right, from the Orrisa Chief Minister?s office to the Prime Minister?s Office for financial help. But there has been no response.
Doctors have assured Suraj?s parents that if his treatment continues he could recover.
According to Pratima Singh, Suraj's mother: "Doctors said that they can help my son, but we are helpless as we don?t have money for his treatment. We have no option left but to watch him die."
